Earthquake!
Written by miked on July 31st, 2008On Tuesday, July 29th, a magnitude 5.4 struck southern California. Centered in nearby Chino Hills, the quake was strong enough to cause the administration to close the campus at 12:30.
The Library did not suffer any structural damage, but the earthquake knocked a multitude of books off the shelves on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors. As a safety precaution, these floors were closed to the public. The day after the temblor, a massive reshelving effort has taken place. In just one day the library staff and volunteers were able to completely organize the 4th floor and re-shelve over half of our 5th floor. Take a look at the video below to see some of the damage and the cleanup. The first half of the video deals with another library, after that it focuses on Pollak library.
