OCLC Database Discontinuations

In an attempt to streamline the Library Collection budget, the Library Collection Development Team conducted a thorough analysis of our electronic resources. We analyzed the content and subjects covered by each resource, reviewed the usage statistics, full text coverage, price increases, alternative subject coverage in free or other Library subscription databases, and cost-per-use figures. After our in depth analysis it was sadly determined that the following database subscriptions will no longer be maintained.

Clase and Periodica
Electronic Books (OCLC catalog of online electronic books available through libraries worldwide)
Government Printing Office
Papers First
Proceedings First
WorldCat Dissertations & Theses

Please use the Pollak Library’s Find Databases tool to locate additional resources relevant to your topic. You can browse recommended resources by subject area!

If you use IE8, set it to compatibility mode, 11/18

If you have upgraded your Internet Explorer browser to version 8, you may encounter problems with Library resources, including our Find It tool (SFX).

To set IE8 to compatibility mode, go to the Tools menu in Internet Explorer 8 and select Compatibility Mode Settings. On the pop-up menu, remove the check from the box next to “Display intranet sites in Compatibility View”. You’ll see a new icon appear near the address bar (looks like a piece of paper with a lightening bolt through it.) When you click on that icon, IE8 will act as though it is IE7. Installing the Firefox browser is another option if you continue to have difficulty with IE8.

Find Articles, Databases inaccessible 11/11, 10 a.m.

Due to problems with the Pollak Library proxy server which allows off campus access to Find Articles and Library Databases, these resources are currently inaccessible. We have reported the problem, and are still trying to have it fixed.
